LANA'I SEWER LINE CLOG CAUSES SPILL
A grease clog in a main sewer line caused a 2,500-gallon wastewater spill Wednesday on Fraser Avenue in Lana'i City, according to the Maui County Department of Environmental Management.
The spill occurred at 3:20 p.m., with wastewater flowing from a manhole on Fraser Avenue, down the street, into neighborhood yards and into a storm drain that does not connect to the ocean, the department said.
The line was unblocked and the spill sites disinfected, officials said.
The state Department of Health was notified.
