Suzuki lifts A's past Marlins, 7-6

OAKLAND, Calif. — Kurt Suzuki's knee was throbbing. So was his foot, painful reminders of the foul balls that hit off his body earlier in the night.
Still, the Oakland catcher managed to smile as he stood beside his locker after delivering the game-winning hit.
"At my position you expect to get foul tips," said Suzuki, a Maui native who doubled in pinch-runner Jack Hannahan with the winning run in the 11th inning as the A's withstood four home runs by Florida to beat the Marlins, 7-6, last night.
"You just have to keep going and take care of it. I'm going to sit in the cold tub right now and take care of that stuff but everything's fine and I'll be ready to go tomorrow, that's for sure."
Suzuki hit a two-run homer and a two-run double before his game-winning hit off Florida's Doug Waechter gave the A's their fourth walkoff win of June and sixth overall this season.
Eric Chavez opened the 11th for Oakland with a long fly ball that left fielder Luis Gonzalez dropped at the wall. Hannahan replaced Chavez on second before Suzuki lined a 1-2 pitch off Waechter (0-2) down the right-field line to knock in the winning run.
