Police today arrested a man for investigation of first-degree arson after he allegedly started a fire that damaged a vehicle in a Waipahu apartment parking lot.

The man, 44, was arrested at 94-820 Awanei St. at 4:35 p.m.

Police said the suspect allegedly set several mattresses stacked in the parking lot on fire at 3:48 p.m. The fire damaged a vehicle parked in a nearby stall.
