Body found at Kapiolani Park was sumo promoter

A Maui businessman and sports promoter whose body was found Friday at the Kapi'olani Park archery range bled to death from self-inflicted stab wounds to the neck, according to autopsy findings released today by the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office.

The man was identified as Shigemitsu Inohana, 57, of Wailea.

Cause of death was listed as "exsanguination due to self-inflicted stab wounds to the neck" and manner as suicide.

Inohana is listed as president and the only employee of Kihei-based Dormtech Hawaii Inc., a tour and guide service business. He promoted the Los Angeles Grand Sumo Tournament at the Los Angeles Sports Arena June 7-8, serving as chairman of the executive committee. In June 2007, Inohana promoted the Grand Sumo Tournament in Hawai'i.
