The San Francisco 49ers signed tight end Delanie Walker to a three-year contract extension, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
Walker, who originally received $102,000 to sign as a sixth-round draft pick in 2006, received a deal worth $6 million this offseason, which included a $1.8 million signing bonus. He is now signed through the 2012 season.
Walker has just 23 career receptions in 23 NFL games. Last season, he caught 21 passes for 174 yards and one touchdown.
But new offensive coordinator Mike Martz has expressed delight to having two pass-catching tight ends in Vernon Davis and Walker.
In March, running back Michael Robinson signed a $3.525 million contract extension through 2012 that included a $1.2 million signing bonus.
