Nationally known nun to discuss culture, spirituality

Sister Joan Chittister will discuss "Spirituality & Culture," the implications of culture on contemporary spirituality, at the latest lecture in the free Father Mackey Lecture Series, 4 p.m. April 6.

The lecture will take place at the Mystical Rose Oratory on Chaminade University campus, 3140 Wai'alae Ave.

Chittister wrote more than 35 books and the recipient of seven Catholic Press Awards. Her most recently published book is "Welcome to the Wisdom of the World." She has appeared on "Meet the Press" with Tim Russert and "NOW" with Bill Moyers. During the papal funeral, she served as a commentator for the BBC and the National Catholic Reporter for which she writes "From Where I Stand" (natcath.org).

Also: Chittister will also hold a workshop retreat 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 in the Mystical Rose Oratory; $15 ($20 at the door).
