To Aunty Genoa, In tribute

• A tribute to Aunty Genoa Keawe will be part of Emme Tomimbang's "Emme's Island Moments Island Icons" TV special, airing at 9 p.m. March 27 and 3 p.m. March 29 on KHON2.
Tomimbang, producer and host of an ongoing series on Island personalities, had been working with Keawe on a retrospective of Keawe's nearly 70 years in entertainment.
The tribute includes interviews with the noted falsetto singer, who reflects on her long and colorful career and on her influence on a generation or two of other performers. Guests include Kealoha Kalama, Frank Kawaikapuolani Hewett, Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, Natalie Kamau'u, Aunty Malia Craver and O'Brien Eselu, who will reflect on Aunty Genoa's legacy.
• Harry B. Soria Jr.'s online program, "Territorial Airwaves," will pay tribute to Aunty Genoa through March 13. The homage will include a number of Keawe's signature hits, including "Alika," "Papalina Lahilahi," "Ho'onanea" and "Pauoa Liko Ka Lehua." The show also airs from noon to 1 p.m. Fridays and from 5 to 6 p.m. Sundays on KKNE 940 AM.
