Kealoha helps HPU sweep

Michael Kealoha had three hits and two RBIs as Hawai'i Pacific beat Grand Canyon, 11-6, yesterday to complete a doubleheader sweep at Hans L'Orange Field.
Nico Garibay and Danny Lee added two RBIs each for the Sea Warriors (16-6). Dan Colella had three hits and four RBIs for the Antelopes (9-14-1).
In the opener, center fielder Jacob Valentine threw out a runner at third to end the game as HPU won, 4-3.
Lee had two hits, including an RBI single, for the Sea Warriors. Trevor Vega had three hits for the Antelopes.
HPU reliever BA Garner got the first two outs in the top of the seventh, but then gave up a single to Vega and hit Austin Stockfisch with a pitch. Colella then singled to center. Vega scored, but Valentine threw out pinch-runner Dusty Dallas at third for the final out.

HAWAI'I-HILO SPLITS
Ronel Trias had three hits and scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as host Hawai'i-Hilo beat Alabama-Birmingham, 3-2, yesterday in the first game of a baseball doubleheader at Wong Stadium.
Alvis Satele also had three hits and Tyler Stafford struck out two in an inning of relief to earn the victory.
Phil Bell hit a two-run homer for UAB.
Trias opened the eighth with an infield single to short. Thomas Brown then reached on an error by the third baseman, with Trias scoring all the way from first.
In the second game, Allen Aubin had three hits and Blake Huddleston allowed six hits and a run in five innings as the Blazers (5-7) hung on for an 8-5 victory over the Vulcans (5-5).
Satele had three hits and three RBIs, and Dayne Ogawa hit a solo homer for Hilo.
TRACK AND FIELD
'BOWS COME UP SHORT
Hawai'i's Emily Sheppard won the high jump and Meghan Weaver captured the shot put, but neither improved on her seasonal-best NCAA provisional mark yesterday at the Last Chance Qualifier in Seattle.
Sheppard jumped 5 feet, 8 1/2 inches and teammate Mallory Gilbert leaped 5-6 1/2. The top 16 nationally earn spots in the NCAA Indoor Championships. Sheppard and Gilbert had been tied for 22nd after leaping 5-10 1/2 earlier in the season.
Weaver, who also ranks No. 22 nationally with a season-best 52-6 1/2, threw the shot 50-11 yesterday.
UH teammate Annett Wichmann, ranked 12th in the pentathlon, will make her second straight appearance in the nationals, Friday and Saturday at the University of Arkansas.
GOLF
UH REMAINS IN 14TH
The University of Hawai'i men's golf team shot a 317 yesterday to remain 14th in the 15-team Southern Highlands Collegiate at Las Vegas.
The Warriors have a two-day total of 49-over 625. Georgia leads with 2-under 574.
Ryan Perez (74) is tied for 20th at 3-over 147 to lead UH. Georgia's Hudson Swafford leads the field with 66—136.
TENNIS
HPU WOMEN NO. 22
The Hawai'i Pacific University women's tennis team is ranked No. 22 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Division II poll.
The Sea Warriors (5-1) are No. 3 in regional rankings.
