A man convicted of firearm offenses in connection with a Waipahu shooting near Waipi'o Neighborhood Park in November 2001 was arrested today in Kalihi on an $11,000 probation-revocation warrant.
Ryan Ikaika Naleimaile, 31, who listed no permanent local address at booking, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of Linapuni Street. He is being held at the main police station cellblock overnight and will be taken to Circuit Court tomorrow.
Naleimaile was sentenced to one year confinement and five years probation in December 2005 for carrying or use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a loaded firearm. He was also sentenced in June 2007 to 181 days confinement after being convicted of misdemeanor abuse of a family/household member.
In 2001, Naleimaile was charged with weapons offenses stemming from a Nov. 15 incident in which five shots were fired during a dispute between two groups in Waipahu. No one was injured in that incident.
Naleimaile was also questioned by police about the shooting of Shane Takeuchi, 24, at 8:45 p.m. the same day at a Lumihoahu residence after a HonoluluCrimeStoppers bulletin led to his arrest Nov. 21, 2001 in Waikiki. Takeuchi was shot in the back and later died at The Queens Medical Center. Naleimaile was not charged in that case.
