Preps: Iolani's Jamie Smith Gatorade Player of Year

Iolani School senior Jamie Smith has been named the Gatorade Hawaii Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence but also academic achievement and exemplary character.
Smith, who led Iolani to a second-place finish in the state tournament, is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
The 6-foot Smith averaged 19.7 poins, 10.5 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 1.5 steals and 1.4 assists per game.
She also maintained a 3.31 grade-point average and recently won a 2007 Scholastic Art Award for sculpture.
