HPU softball wins, 7-1

Courtney Kessell scattered eight hits and struck out six as Hawai'i Pacific beat Maine, 7-1, yesterday in a softball game at HPU Field.
Ciera Senas had three hits and Krystal Plunkett hit a solo homer for the Sea Warriors (13-0).
Terren Hall homered for the Bears (0-17).
Elsewhere yesterday, Christina Pedroza pitched a six-hitter and Tessa Truong hit a two-run single as Hawai'i-Hilo beat Dixie State, 2-0, to earn a split of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader at the UHH Softball Field.
Dana Lee had two hits for the Vulcans (3-3, 2-2). Haley Schumers pitched a seven-hitter with nine strikeouts for the Rebels (10-10, 2-2).
Brittany Dock had two hits and three RBIs, and Dixie State scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the opener, 7-6.
Also, Notre Dame de Namur swept Chaminade in a doubleheader, 6-4, and 5-2, at Central O'ahu Regional Park.
The Argos are 11-12 and 3-1, the Silverswords are 4-11 and 3-5.
DIVING
5 RAINBOWS AT QUALIFIER
Five University of Hawai'i divers will participate in NCAA E Zone Qualifying, tomorrow through Saturday at Oklahoma City.
Emma Friesen, Stephanie De Lima and Raquel Bartlow will represent the Rainbow Wahine, with Magnus Frick and Mats Wiktorsson in the men's event.
Friesen, a sophomore from Canada, won a WAC title in 1-meter a second straight year. De Lima, a freshman from Canada, captured gold in platform diving. Bartlow, a sophomore from Long Beach, Calif., took second at 3-meters and on the platform.
Frick, a senior from Sweden, was named Diver of the Year at the Conference USA Championships after winning the 1- and 3-meter finals and taking second in the platform. Wiktorsson, also a senior from Sweden, won the platform and was third in the 1- and 3-meter finals.
Frick earned an Olympic qualifying slot for Sweden last month at the FINA World Diving Cup.
