Aina Haina library to host 'Remembering 1965'

Dr. Noel Kent, of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa's Ethnic Studies Department, will present "Remembering 1965: A Watershed Year for America" on Tuesday at the 'Aina Haina Public Library.

Kent will speak from 6 to 7:30 p.m. about the most significant events of that year, including the civil rights movement reaching an apex, President Lyndon B. Johnson embarking on a war and the flowering of the Baby Boomer generation. He is the author of "Hawaii: Islands Under the Influence," published in 1993, and "America in 1900," published in 2000.

The talk is free and open to the public, and is supported by a grant from the Hawai'i Council for the Humanities. For more information, call 732-5402.
