Baseball: It's a boy!; Matsuzaka could start Japan opener

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Daisuke Matsuzaka's wife has given birth to a boy.
That clears the way for Boston's right-hander to travel to Japan with his teammates. He could start in his homeland in the regular-season opener March 25 against Oakland.
The Red Sox had said it was uncertain whether Dice-K would make the trip because of his wife's pregnancy. The team flies Wednesday to Tokyo for two exhibition games against Japanese teams and two regular season games against Oakland.
The Red Sox said Tomoyo Matsuzaka gave birth at 7:30 a.m. Saturday to a 6-pound, 10-ounce boy but did not give the baby's name. The team did not say where the birth took place.
