Cultural wonders

Tomorrow's grand parade in Waikiki caps off the 14th annual Honolulu Festival, but there's much to see and hear until then. The festival, themed "Experience the Wonder," seeks to promote cultural exchange and understanding between Hawai'i and its Pacific Rim neighbors.
That means much sharing of dance, song, arts and more from Japan, Australia, Tahiti, the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea and, of course, Hawai'i. Among the attractions:
• A craft fair, with more than 100 booths, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. tomorrow at the Hawai'i Convention Center.
• A seminar, "The First Citizen: Joseph Heco and the Opening of U.S.-Japan Relations," 10:30 a.m. today at the convention center.
• An Ennichi Corner, where activities such as origami, yukata dressing and more reflect the Japanese celebration of a sort of Saint's Day, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow at the convention center.
• Entertainment of all kinds will be found from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at the convention center, Ala Moana Center, Waikiki Beach Walk and Waikiki Shopping Plaza.
• The parade, featuring floats, high school bands, hula and other dance troupes and Miss Hawaii and the Cherry Blossom and Narcissus queens, begins at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow at Saratoga Road and ends at Kapi'olani Park.
