Fourteen days, two unscheduled nights in unexpected cities, and three losses
after it started, the University of Hawaii men's basketball team finally
returned home today.
The Rainbow Warriors completed their season last Thursday with a loss to
Boise State in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament at Las Cruces, N.M.
They were stuck in Las Cruces through the weekend due to limited flights,
and were scheduled to return to Honolulu yesterday. However, a five-hour delayed
flight in Dallas prompted the team to miss a connecting flight in Los
Angeles.
The team stayed in Los Angeles last night and returned to Honolulu around
10:45 a.m. today.
The 'Bows also had a canceled flight earlier in the trip, prompting them to
stay overnight in Dallas. They traveled to Las Cruces the next day and
played New Mexico State less than five hours after arriving in the city.
The season-ending road trip started March 3. The 'Bows lost at Louisiana
Tech and New Mexico State to end the regular season. They stayed in Las
Cruces after the New Mexico State game for the WAC Tournament.
All told, Hawaii traveled more than 9,000 miles and stayed in five
different hotels during the trip.
