Police arrest 31 on Big Island for DUI in one week

Big Island police arrested 31 motorists for drunk driving last week.
Nine of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash and six were under the age of 21, police said.
So far this year, there have been 316 DUI arrests compared with 298 during the same period last year, an increase of 6 percent.
While DUI arrests are up, major traffic accidents on the Big Island have decreased 14 percent.
There have been 446 major accidents so far this year compared with 516 during the same period last year, a decrease of 14 percent.
