A conference titled "Micronesian Voices in Hawai'i" will be held April 3-4 at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa's Imin Conference Center.

It is sponsored by the UH Center for Pacific Islands Studies with help from the School of Pacific and Asian Studies and the Sidney Stern Memorial Trust.

Micronesian leaders and others in the community will talk about the steps they are taking to address challenges faced by new migrants from the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau. Among the discussion topics will be the Compacts of Free Association that have led many Micronesians to move to Hawai'i.

Today is the deadline to register. General registration is $20. Students pay $5. Registration includes lunch both days and the closing reception. Go to www.hawaii.edu/cpis/2008conf/ or call 956-7700.
