Alakai moved out of drydock

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii Superferry's Alakai has been moved from drydock to its regular berth at Pier 19, but company spokeswoman Lori Abe said there is no change in plans to resume service April 23.

The 350-foot catamaran went into drydock for repairs on Feb. 13 after sustaining damage to its auxiliary rudder system.

The $85 million vessel required additional work when its aluminum hull was damaged during the drydocking process.

Abe said the interisland ferry, which sails between Honolulu and Maui, continues to accept reservations for travel for April 23 and beyond.
