Fire crews contain 350-acre brushfire on Molokai

A fire first reported around 9:30 this morning was contained shortly before 2 p.m. today. Moloka'i firefighters were assisted by two helicopters and heavy equipment provided by the county's Public Works Department.
The fire was in the Mo'omomi area. Residents were notified that in the event the fire escalated and it became necessary, they would be evacuated. No such evacuation was needed. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Reports indicate that approximately 350 acres were burned.
