Inouye's statement on Aloha Airlines

U.S. Sen. Dan Inouye issued the following statement today about Aloha Airlines:
"This is a very sad day for the people of Hawaii. On a personal note, in 1947, when Aloha Airlines was in her infancy and called TransPacific Airlines, I had the privilege of serving as volunteer staff member. I have watched and supported this carrier's service to the people of Hawaii dating back to the days of the territory. It saddens me greatly that this chapter in our history is coming to a close.
"I wish to commend CEO David Banmiller for working round the clock and pursuing every possible angle. He did everything he could. The goal right now is to provide for as smooth a transition as possible for the traveling public and for the transport of cargo. To the 3,500 employees, my heart goes out to you and your families. You are part of a proud legacy."
