Associated Press

TOKYO — Former World No. 1 Andy Roddick is scheduled take part in the Japan Open tennis tournament in September, the Japan Tennis Association said today.

Roddick, along with last year's winner David Ferrer of Spain, are among the top players expected to take part in the Sept. 29-Oct. 15 event.

Also scheduled to participate is Japanese player Kei Nishikori, who at 18 became the youngest Japanese player to break into the top 100 of the men's world rankings.

Nishikori became the first Japanese tournament winner on the ATP Tour in 16 years with his victory at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships in February.
