Punahou beats Saint Louis; teams play again for overall title

Four-time defending state champion Punahou defeated Saint Louis, 12-7, to win the Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball tournament title today at Ala Wai field.
Punahou, which finished third in the ILH regular season, will again play Saint Louis, which finished first, on Saturday to determine the overall ILH title. The game is 10 a.m. at Ala Wai.
Both Punahou and Saint Louis, along with Mid-Pacific, which finished second in the ILH regular season, had already earned state tournament berths before today's first pitch.
All-State players Jeeter Ishida (2-for-2) and Matt Suiter (2-for-4, double) led Punahou, which went unbeaten in the double-elimination ILH Tournament.
Tyler Young had a triple and two runs batted in for Punahou and Shane Yoshiyama and Tyler Hanzawa each scored two runs.
