Fujikawa shoots 70, finishes tied for 48th in Japan

Hawai'i's Tadd Fujikawa shot an even-par 70 on Sunday and finished at 4-over 284 in The Crowns golf tournament at the 6,514-yard, par-70 Nagoya Golf Club Wago Course in Aichi, Japan. Fujikawa finished tied for 48th and earned nearly $3,000.
Tomohiro Kondo won the tournament after topping Hiroyuki Fujita in a playoff. Both finished regulation play at 271.
Fujikawa, a 17-year-old Moanalua High School junior, got off to a fast start with a birdie on the par-4 No. 1 and an eagle on the par-5 No. 2. But he bogeyed the Nos. 3, 4 and 6 to make the turn at even-par. He bogeyed the par-4 No. 11 and birdied the par-3 No. 13, then parred the rest of the way.
Hilo's Gregory Meyer, a regular on the Japan Golf Tour Organization, shot 73 and finished at 287.
Fujikawa shot a 69 in the opening round and was tied for 37th after two rounds after shooting 71. On Saturday, he struggled to a 74 and was tied for 57th.
Fujikawa won the Mid-Pacific Open two weeks ago for his first victory as a professional. It was the first time he made a cut since turning pro last July.
