Wilson Tunnel lanes to be shut to fix power line
One lane of traffic in both directions will be closed on the Kane'ohe side of Wilson Tunnel today and tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Hawaiian Electric Co. repair work on a broken 138-kilovolt transmission line that fell on two vehicles yesterday at 9 a.m.
HECO spokesman Darren Pai said no one was injured and service was not affected in yesterday's incident. The company is investigating what caused the high-voltage line, which brings power from West O'ahu over the mountains to Windward O'ahu, to break, Pai said.
The planned utility work on Likelike Highway will be performed, weather permitting, Pai said.
