The host of a weekly radio show featuring Frank Sinatra tunes will mark the 1Oth anniversary of the singer's death with an hour-long special program on Hawaii Public Radio's KIPO 89.3
Guy Steele's "Sinatra," set to air 5-6 p.m. May 18, will feature some of Sinatra's greatest recordings spanning his 60-year career in show business. Sinatra died May 14, 1998.
"We'll start with his appearance on 'Major Bowes And His Original Amateur Hour' in 1935, and then move to some of his recordings with The Harry James Band and Tommy Dorsey Orchestra from 1939 to 1942," Steele said in a news release.
"Next we'll feature music from his years as a bobby-soxer idol in the 1940s, his swingin' years in the 1950s, and his greatest hits in the 1960s and beyond. It'll be a very entertaining hour."
Steele's show airs on KIPO every Sunday, from 5-6 p.m. The program can also be heard streaming at HPR's Web site at www.hawaiipublicradio.org.
