Parasail, personal watercraft and surfing businesses on Maui's famous Ka'anapali Beach aren't being moved off the sand.
The state government had considered banning commercial activity providers from keeping their equipment on the public beach.
Some Maui residents had complained that businesses' umbrellas, chairs and kayaks had created clutter on the four-mile long beach.
The Board of Land and Natural Resources voted unanimously Friday to allow all currently permitted businesses on the beach to continue operating as they have been for 90 more days.
During that time, they'll work on creating rules that will govern how much — if any — equipment businesses can station on the beach.
