An area near the Nimitz Highway Interchange has been reopened after being temporarily closed because of smoke from a fire under the viaduct.

All traffic in the area had been diverted as of midnight to other local streets.

The roadway was cleared shortly after 3 a.m. and normal traffic patterns were restored.
