Punahou, Hawaii Baptist earn top seeds in state volleyball tournaments

Punahou and Hawai'i Baptist received the top seeds for this week's Hawai'i High School Athletic Association state boys volleyball tournaments, which will be held on Maui and O'ahu.
Three-time defending state champion and Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Punahou (16-0) is the top seed in Division I. Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion and last year's runner-up Kamehameha-Hawai'i (13-1) is seeded second, followed by third seed and O'ahu Interscholastic Association champion Wai'anae (14-1). Maui Interscholastic League champion Kamehameha-Maui (7-3) is seeded fourth. All four seeded teams received a first-round bye and begin play on Thursday.
First-round play begins on Wednesday at Kamehameha Schools-Maui and King Kekaulike High School. The championship game is Saturday at Kamehameha-Maui.
In Division II, ILH champion Hawai'i Baptist (10-4) earned the top seed, followed by MIL champion Seabury Hall (10-0), BIIF champion Hilo (10-4) and OIA champion Campbell (10-4). All four seeded teams received a first-round bye and begin play on Thursday.
First-round action begins on Wednesday at Farrington and Radford high schools. The championship game is Saturday at Radford.
