La. Tech captures WAC tourney

Louisiana Tech became just the second No. 4 seed to capture the Western Athletic Conference Tournament title with a 2-1 victory over top-seeded Nevada yesterday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The Lady Techsters (35-27) advance to the postseason for the first time since 1995.
Tournament MVP Krissi Oliver was solid in the circle and at the plate against the Wolf Pack (42-16).
Oliver, a junior, blasted her seventh home run of the season to give the Lady Techsters a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh.
Oliver (18-14) also earned the win, allowing one run in six innings. She scattered 10 hits, walked one and struck out one.
Wanda Malone pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.
