Alex Ching, Punahou capture state boys golf titles

Punahou, led by medalist Alex Ching, won the David S. Ishii Foundation/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Boys Golf Championship today at Wailua Golf Course on Kaua'i.
The Buffanblu took three of the top four individual spots, led by Ching, who shot a 2-over-par 74 in today's final round for a 1-over 145. John David Nako of Punahou (74), Justin Keiley of Baldwin (77) and Bradley Shigezawa of Punahou (75) were tied at 148.
Punahou shot a 295 for a two-day 589 (best four scores). Baldwin (310—622) was second followed by 'Iolani (325—634) and Kamehameha (324—635), Kaua'i (323—635) and Waiakea (314—635).
Andrea Topping (74) of Kapolei, Matt Kitamori (77) of Waiakea and Levi Miyashiro (76) were tied at 149.
