Vacant Big Island shed destroyed by fire

An unoccupied 20-by-20-foot shed burned to the ground last night in the Fern Forest area of the Big Island.
Fire fighters from the Volcano Station received the alarm call about 10:10 p.m. and arrived at the scene to find the structure on Makoa Road burned to the ground.
Ten Big Island county and two volunteer firefighters wet down the smoldering rubble with foam. There were no signs of recent use, fire officials said.
The loss was estimated at $5,000. The cause of the fire was listed as unknown.
