Two teenagers have been indicted on murder, assault and robbery charges in connection with a Waikiki attack Saturday night that left Good Samaritan Ned Nakoa dead of head injuries.

Indicted on a charge of second degree murder is Kelii Donovan Acasia, 19. Co-defendant Benjamin Pada, 18, was indicted on charges of second degree theft and second degree assault.

In asking that Acasia be held in lieu of $1 million bail, Deputy Prosecutor Vickie Kapp said the defendant punched victim Ned Nakoa "three to four times in the head" and then "kicked him in the face" after he fell to his knees.

Nakoa was trying to assist a couple that had allegedly been robbed by Pada. He died later of "massive bleeding in the brain," Kapp said.

Pada is charged with robbery and assault and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

He allegedly stole a purse from a tourist woman and then used a wrench to strike down a Kane'ohe Bay Marine who was accompanying the woman.

When bystander Nakoa tried to intercede between Pada and the Marine, he was attacked by Acasia, according to police reports.
