HAPPY BIRTHDAY, 'ELUA
JOIN THE CELEBRATION WITH A 4-COURSE MEAL FOR $75
They said it couldn't be done: Two decisive, strong-willed, creative chefs in one kitchen. But after a year, chefs Donato Loperfido and Philippe Padovani are celebrating one year of culinary togetherness at 'Elua ("two") Restaurant and Wine Bar at 1341 Kapi'olani Blvd.
Tonight, the two chefs team up with Scott and Annie Shull from Raptor Ridge Winery for a four-course wine-matched dinner featuring 2-ounce pours of the highly rated wines, including the 2007 pinot gris, and 2006 pinot noirs from two different vineyard locations. Dinner is $75. On Friday and Saturday, the celebration continues with another $75 tasting menu, offering five courses showcasing both chefs' approaches: Philippe's Manila clams chowder and confit of duck, Donato's risotto with mushrooms and white truffle oil and grilled lamb chops; wine pairings are $16 additional. And martini desserts, a restaurant specialty, will be $5 for those two nights only.
