Baseball: No repeat no-hitter, Lester allows leadoff hit

OAKLAND, Calif. — Jon Lester has allowed a leadoff single by Oakland's Jack Hannahan in his first start after throwing a no-hitter.
Lester, a cancer survivor who won the clinching game of last season's World Series, threw the 18th no-hitter in Red Sox history against the Kansas City Royals on Monday night at Fenway Park.
But after David Ortiz hit a first-inning homer to put the Red Sox ahead on Sunday, Hannahan stroked Lester's fourth pitch into left field for a single, ending an 0-for-10 slump.
