UH's Haislet, Van Doornum cited

University of Hawai'i outfielders Brandon Haislet and Jeff Van Doornum were named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, the league announced yesterday.
Haislet went 10 for 19 with four runs, seven RBIs, four doubles and one homer in UH's five games, while Van Doornum batted 8 for 22 with four runs, 11 RBIs, a double and two homers.
Fresno State beat Nevada, 6-4, in the championship yesterday at Ruston, La.
Fresno State will be awarded a regional bid that goes to the WAC champion.

KONO TIED FOR SECOND
Punahou School senior Stephanie Kono shot a 3-under-par 69 yesterday to move into a tie for second after two rounds of the Thunderbird International Junior in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Kono offset three bogeys with four birdies and an eagle on the par-4 10th hole for a 36-hole total of 1-over 145.
Tiffany Lua of Rowland Heights, Calif., leads with 70—142.
Chan Kim, a former Kaimuki High student and state prep champion, shot 73—142 to share seventh in the boys division.
OKADA, TING TOP FIELD
Citing schedule conflicts, Elyse Okada and Desiree Ting declined berths to the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship after sharing medalist honors at a qualifier on Maui.
Okada and Ting both shot 2-over-par 74 at the Kahili Golf Course. Okada had two birdies and four bogeys, while Ting offset six bogeys with four birdies.
Kelly Nakashima (77) and Kelcie Kawano (78) were awarded the berths to the national championship, which will be played June 16 to 21 in Erin, Wis.Bonk wins Kona Open
Max Bonk, a 2007 Hawai'i Prep graduate and a freshman at Pacific University (Ore.), shot a 1-over-par 73 yesterday to win the Kona Open by one stroke over professional John Lynch.
Bonk, who opened with a 67 Saturday, finished with a 4-under 140 total.
Lynch (70—141) was alone in second place, followed by Regan Lee (71—143).
Defending champion Jarett Hamamoto (71) shared fourth with Mark Micale (72) at even-par 144.
CHU, SAKAUE PREVAIL
Alex Chu and Joey Sakaue defeated Marshall Uchida and Steve Ohira, 3-2, yesterday to win the championship flight of the Francis Brown Four Ball event at Ala Wai Golf Course.
In other finals, Tom Nakagawa and Al Amii beat Francis Olena and Clifford Nishikawa, 2-up, in A flight, and George Akeo and Clarence Takahashi beat Daryn Arakaki and Gregg Yoshimura, 6-5, in B flight.
