MELBOURNE, Australia — Anthony Mundine beat fellow Australian Sam Soliman in a unanimous points decision Wednesday to retain his World Boxing Association super middleweight title.
Mundine successfully defended his title for the fourth time with the 116-112, 116-112, 117-112 decision.
The three judges, from Thailand, the Philippines and South Korea, all awarded the fight to Mundine despite boos and jeers from the crowd and some protests from Soliman's corner when the decision was announced at Vodafone Arena.
Soliman, 35-11, said he was disappointed with the verdict.
"It's a tough sport and that's a hard decision to accept," he said.
