Kim wins four-ball match as U.S. takes lead at Curtis Cup

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland —Former Hawai'i resident Kimberly Kim teamed with Mina Harigae to win their four-ball match yesterday as the United States took a 4-2 lead over Great Britain & Ireland in the 35th Curtis Cup on the Old Course.
Kim and Harigae defeated Carly Booth and Michele Thomson, 3 and 2, in an afternoon four-ball match.
The United States won two of the three afternoon matches after capturing two of three in the morning foursome matches.
Amanda Blumenherst and Stacy Lewis each won two matches for the Americans.
Kim did not play in the morning foursome matches.
Six more team matches were scheduled for this morning, with eight singles matches tomorrow.
Kim, 16, is scheduled to play in this morning's foursome matches with Jennie Lee. The U.S. duo will face Carly Booth and Breanne Loucks.
Kim moved from the Big Island to Arizona three years ago to devote more time to her game. She is the youngest member on the eight-player U.S. squad.
Sally Watson won both her matches for GB&I.
The Americans have a 25-6-3 lead in the series that dates to 1932.
