Hawaii Superferry report delayed

A study into the environmental effects of the Hawaii Superferry is being delayed.
The state Department of Transportation announced Friday that the draft Environment Impact Statement for the Hawaii Superferry won't be distributed until January. It previously had been scheduled for this fall.
Deputy Transportation Director Michael Formby says the state is taking more time to get the environmental study correct.
Studies under review include harbor improvements and the impact the Superferry has on marine animals, plants, invasive species, cultural resources and the economy.
Once the draft is completed, the public will have 45 days to comment on it. The final report is due to be released in June.
