A Hawai'i Kai man charged Monday with the alleged sex assault of a 13-year-old girl last month in Manoa has an initial appearance scheduled Friday at District Court.

Ward Kiyo Gusukuma, 43, of an Awawamalu Street address is accused of two counts each of first- and third-degree sex assault. He posted $30,000 bail and was released Monday at 10:30 p.m.

The alleged sex assault occurred between Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. The girl told police she had met Gusukuma for the first time on the day of the alleged offense.
