High surf advisory canceled for north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory posted at 12 a.m. yesterday for the north- and west-facing shores of most islands was canceled as of 3:37 a.m. this morning by the National Weather Service.

On Oahu, surf along north-facing shores has dropped down to 8 to 12 feet while surf along west-facing shores has come down a bit to 6 to 8 feet, the Weather Service said.

Elsewhere look for surf of 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores and 2 to 4 feet along east-facing shores.

Outlook through Wednesday, Nov. 19: The current northwest swell will gradually diminish through Friday.

This swell will eventually shift to a more north northwesterly direction this weekend.

A moderate sized short period north swell arriving on Sunday will likely continue at least through Monday.
