The Kamehameha Lions Club has presented two new concrete benches to Palama Settlement.

Each of the 6-foot benches weighs more than 400 pounds, is cast of solid concrete and is covered with several layers of epoxy to ensure durability, the Lions Club said.

Funding for the benches was shared by the local Lions Club and its sister club, the Osaka Sumiyoshi Lions of Japan.

Members of the Japan club traveled to Hawai'i to participate in a bench dedication ceremony yesterday morning.
