Brushfire behind Kapaa Elementary extinguished

A brushfire charred nearly three acres behind Kapa'a Elementary School on Friday afternoon, firefighters said.
No one was injured and no structures were damaged in the fire that required 11 firefighters and rescue specialists from the Kapa'a and Lihu'e stations to respond.
The fire was reported at 2:03 p.m., under control by 3:12 p.m. and out by 3:32 p.m., Kaua'i firefighters said. During the blaze, staff and clients of ARC and Mahelona voluntarily evacuated their building.
