"Star Wars" characters, including Darth Vader and the Imperial Stormtroppers, will participate in a Dec. 17 city drive to collect toys for this year's U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive.

The figures, representing the 501st Legion in a world-wide "Star Wars" costuming organization, will help collect toys from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 17 at Honolulu Hale (City Hall). By then, the city's "Honolulu City Lights" spectacle will be in full swing and the one-night "Star Wars" presence will provide a photo op with a Christmas flavor.

Bring unwrapped toys to the courtyard, where the collection will be under way.
