Passenger stabs cabbie in Manoa

A taxi driver who was stabbed in Manoa on Saturday afternoon was driving two men to the valley when one of the them pulled a knife on him, according to a police report.

The two men, one in his mid-20s and the other in his mid-40s, had flagged the driver, 54, in Makiki and asked him to take them to Manoa Valley. Once at their destination, the older customer asked the driver for change and pulled out a knife, the report said. The driver and the suspect struggled and the driver was stabbed several times, the report said. The men then fled from the cab.

Police patrols searched the area but didn't find the suspects.

The driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital in serious condition.


SUSPECT ARRESTED IN MURDER ATTEMPT

Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for attempted murder in a stabbing that took place about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Wahiawa.

According to a police report, the suspect slashed and stabbed a 47-year-old man, causing serious injuries.

Police found the suspect, positively identified him and arrested him, pending further investigation.

The condition of the victim was unknown.
