WAHIAWA
Paramedic facility to be dedicated on Thursday

City officials will dedicate a new paramedic facility in Wahiawa at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The 1,512-square-foot facility is at 640 California Ave, and will provide a permanent headquarters for Emergency Medical Services Division personnel in the area. For the last 12 years, Wahiawa EMS personnel have been operating out of a 200-square-foot office in the back of Wahiawa General Hospital.

The Wahiawa EMS Unit began 24/7 paramedic service in 1979. It received approximately 300 calls that first year. In 2007, it got more than 1,800.
