The Hawaiian Humane Society's Pictures with Santa Paws offers supporters an opportunity to get their holiday photo with the entire family — including their pets — on Nov. 29 and 30, and Dec. 6 and 7. Portrait sittings with a professional photographer begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. The sessions are $25 and includes a CD of the photos. Money raised support programs and services to help homeless animals this holiday season.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a new pet toy or item from the society's wish list. Wish-list items include bath mats; bird cages; canned kitten food; cat scratching posts or materials; cat treats in unopened packages; dog/cat nail clippers; dog/cat shampoo, grooming brushes and combs for pets; kitty litter; laundry detergent; newspapers; shoe boxes; shopping bags and clean towels.
Toys provide stimulation, mental activity and a positive way for owners and their pets to share quality time. Toys may also help prevent behavioral issues from developing. For cats, toys are a positive outlet for their instinctive prey-chasing behaviors.
In addition, attendees may bring photos of their pet to hang on the Humane Society's Giving Tree, which will be on display through Christmas.
Established in 1897, the Hawaiian Humane Society is the only animal welfare organization that shelters, rescues, adopts and welcomes all animals — all day and every day on O'ahu. A hundred percent of your gift stays in the Islands for the benefit of Hawai'i's animals and people.
