MLB: Hal Morris hired as Pirates scouting supervisor

PITTSBURGH — Former Cincinnati Reds first baseman Hal Morris joined the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday as an area scouting supervisor in the upper Midwest.
Morris batted .304 during a 13-season major league career that included 10 seasons with the Reds. He finished second in the 1991 NL batting race with a .318 average.
After retiring as a player following the 2000 season, Morris earned a master's degree in business administration from Stanford.
