Mayor, governor to join Salvation Army kickoff
The Salvation Army will kick off its annual holiday bell ringing campaign today at Tamarind Park.
The governor and mayor will be there to make donations.
They will also be ringing bells at the corner of Bishop and King streets.
The kickoff is set for noon at the park.
"Every year, our red kettles have been a major source of support from the general public," said Edward Hill, Salvation Army divisional commander. "This year, it is particularly important that we raise much-needed funds for our programs to help the increasing number of families needing assistance because of the widespread effects of the ailing economy."
Donations to the Salvation Army can also be made at www.salvationarmyhawaii.org.
