Medical examiner rules Ko Olina man committed suicide

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office yesterday determined that a man whose body was found Friday at a Ko Olina townhouse committed suicide.

Cause was listed as "asphyxia due to hanging" and manner of death as suicide.

The bodies of a 40-year-old man and his wife, 36, were discovered at about 5 p.m. Friday at their townhouse on Olani Street. The woman's decomposed body was found inside the house while the man was found hanging in the home's enclosed garage.

The medical examiner deferred on cause and manner on the woman, who appears to have died several days before her husband. The medical examiner declined yesterday to release names of the couple.

Police arrived at the home after the man's co-workers went to check on him because he had not reported to work for several days.
