Weather: Clear and cool through Wednesday

A high pressure area centered north of the islands will bring a drier than normal trade winds hrough Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

Moderate trades today will increase to strong and gusty levels tonight and Wednesday, forecasters said.

As the ridge to the north weakens and drifts over the islands, the winds will weaken and gradually become southeasterly on Thursday and Thursday night.

A cold front will move across Kauai late Friday, then stall and weaken over Oahu and Maui county late Friday night through Saturday.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Scattered showers, mainly after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 81. East wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thanksgiving Day: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 81. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. South wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
